Hello Everyone! My name is Elana Maccou and I am from Groton, New York, located in Central New York. More recently I call Myrtle Beach, SC my home. I am a lifetime athlete who played soccer in college while attending the University at Albany for both my Bachelor of Human Biology and Master of Public Health degrees. I attended medical school at Windsor University on the island of St. Kitts where I also completed a Master of Healthcare Administration through Walden University with a focus on Leadership Development.

Professionally, my interests include transplant surgery, physician leadership, community engagement and medical education, particularly amongst youth. I have held positions in research, health education, and business management and serve as a volunteer member of the General and Surgeon’s Advisory Boards of Back to Healing, a 501c3 organization providing patient education, advocacy, and surgical philanthropy for patients with scoliosis.

I love spending my free time outdoors swimming, running, hiking, brunching, and welcoming new experiences with my very busy son Félipe! I am so excited for the opportunity to learn amongst the great surgeons of UVA and experiencing all that Charlottesville has to offer.
