David Ruohoniemi, MD

1st Year Resident
Medical School: New York University

Coming back to UVA for residency was an easy choice. I spent 4 years in Charlottesville as an undergraduate, and I quickly realized that I loved the city and the surrounding area. Spending 4 years in New York City as a medical student helped me realize what made Charlottesville so great. It’s a livable city with plenty to do. It’s convenient to get around and easy to get outdoors. The people are welcoming and truly appreciate what UVA does for the community. UVA has an excellent reputation for strong training and a collegial environment, two things I was looking for in a future training program. As an IR resident at UVA, I wanted a program like UVA with a collaborative atmosphere.
