Andrew Young, MD
2nd Year Resident
Medical School: University of Virginia
While it might seem that UVA was inevitable for me, it also happens to be the perfect place for residency. I grew up in Charlottesville and went to UVA for Undergrad and Med School. As an undergraduate I got interested in medicine when I worked as an EMT and then as a Paramedic. I was heavily involved in the Charlottesville Albemarle Rescue Squad as the Training Officer and countless other roles. I continued this through medical school until right before I started as a resident. I was drawn to the program by the amazing residents and faculty first and foremost. The quality and diversity of the rotations, mentorship, leadership, and research opportunities, education program, and collegiality with other programs was just the icing on the cake.
