Pediatric Surgery

Children playing in the lobby of the Children's Hospital, Battle Building. The Pediatric Surgery Division, the Department of Surgery, the University of Virginia Children’s Hospital and the University of Virginia Health System provide comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic care of surgical diseases in children ranging from premature infants to adolescents. Each physician in the division has completed a full residency in General Surgery and an additional two years of training in Pediatric Surgery and is certified in Pediatric Surgery and General Surgery by the American Board of Surgery. The nurse clinicians, Martha Wheeler and Janice McCormick provide comprehensive attention to patient care questions in conjunction with the surgeons, and coordinate scheduling of operative cases and clinic appointments.

When your child’s medical care requires much more than rest and medication, you want experienced healthcare providers with the skills, equipment and bedside manner necessary to support your child.
