Surgery Resident
Medical School: Thomas Jefferson University

Hello! I’m Daniella Wong, one of the residents in the Integrated Thoracic Surgery program. I grew up in the suburbs of Connecticut and spent most weekends visiting family in New York. My first big move was to Philadelphia, where I completed my undergraduate studies in neuroscience at Temple University. I spent a gap year working as an emergency department medical scribe at multiple hospitals in the greater Philadelphia region.

I was fortunate to stay in the City of Brotherly Love for medical school at Thomas Jefferson University. This was where I first bore witness to the beauty of cardiothoracic anatomy and physiology, and met mentors who demonstrated the rich relationships and intentional community that could be fostered through the art of doctoring. Under their tutelage I found that the white coat signifies faith, hope, and love.

On Match Day, I waited 8 hours to open my results with my family – the big reveal was well worth the wait! I am beyond excited to join the UVA surgery family, with its commitment to resident education, unmatched technical training, and collegial faculty and resident culture. Outside the hospital, I love playing tennis with my partner, exploring the local food scene, and catching up with family and friends to stay grounded.
