UVA Department of Surgery

The Department of Surgery at the University of Virginia (UVA) provides excellent patient care, pursues cutting-edge research, and educates the next generation of world-class surgeons. Unified in diversity, best practices guide care for each patient as we expand our knowledge of health and disease.

Altogether, our department consists of seven divisions: Cardiothoracic Surgery, General Surgery, Pediatric Surgery, Surgical Oncology, Transplant Surgery, Vascular and Endovascular Surgery, and the Division of Surgical Sciences.  Our faculty are actively engaged in the four pillars of the school of medicine: clinical care, research, education, and community.
